  1. When I attempt interpretative dance at home; particularly my rendition of Midnight Oil’s Peter Garrett; it only produces disparaging comments. When I practice it at work I am patently ‘unwell’; or the question is asked by Management. When I dance interpretation in public I get asked to leave premises. Where can I dance; it seems that even the cat ‘Basa’ is disturbed.

      • Time check:) it’s Sunday at 11:16 pm.. I was watching this show Dirty Jobs Down Under.. Mike Rowe helped a guy get brown snakes out from someone’s house.. They had to release it to the wild…

      • It’s 5.40 Monday arvo. Wow I didn’t know they made shows about that sort of thing. There’s usually a couple of companies that will come and get rid of snakes if you want – they release them not kill them. But they do tend to take them out into more outlying areas.

      • Have you ever seen a real brown snake? I thought they live in the desert area. Then they worked at a kangaroo sanctuary.. They have people who hunt them with rifles and this place saves the wounded ones… Unbelievable..

      • Oh Browns are pretty common, it’s the Tiapan and the copperheads that are more outback orientated but you do see them a bit in Qld. Most common are the grass snakes [very pretty not poisonous], red or yellow belly black snakes [dangerous and poisonous] , carpet snakes and pythons – those are what you’ll see in Qld even in the suburbs. I did a post for you about the bush python – not a nice type – as mum had sent me some shots her friend took the other week. Jenni

      • I will check it out Taipans are angry snakes.. They say they chase you if you make them made… Where you are, is there actual winter or is it kind of no change being near the equator…

      • It’s winter here at the moment but in North Qld where I am that means about 10 degrees Celsius at night and 12 during the day on the really cold days. Down south it gets really cold and snows in some parts of southern Australia.

      • The little fellow next door has gone to wherever his colder sleeping spot is but I’ll be heading up to Townsville for the anti budget marches this weekend. I’ll take some time to have a scout round in the groves to see if I can spot on for a photo for you.

      • They aren’t real bears.. Do they hibernate? I’m koala knowledge impaired… it’s 12:22 am here.. Did you know they have illegal hunters who shoot kangaroos… I hadn’t a clue…

      • No they don’t hibernate but they do move in cooler weather further north where it is warmer.

As for kangaroos – ummm we eat them as well as cull them. The loss of the large number of dingo’s and the increased cleared lands for grazing has meant that they can overpopulate very quickly especially out west. So they’re culled every 3 to 5 years.

      • Yes – you can buy Kangaroo steak at the supermarket – it’s quite nice actually. Up in the Northern Territory they eat emu and crocodile but I’ve never tasted those and they aren’t commonly available. But kangaroo is as is their hides etc for leather, fur, kangaroo bull whips are the best for cattle runs as a rule.

  2. That was hilarious Jenni. The picture is perfect. I laughed out loud and it’s 2:27 am here, so I had to cover my mouth while I laughed. Thank you for starting my week off with a laugh. I’m a sucker for small furry animals, especially squirrels (I think that is a squirrel.)

      • I can well imagine, Jenni! Definitely worth adopting! I tend also to go in for the completely inconsequential and weird one-liners. For example, and this is an old favourite of mine, I’ll suddenly say, ‘Ah! The Crested Grebes are mating, I see!’ apropos of nothing – tends to clear pubs in pretty short order, that kind of thing. xxx
