Anti-Fracking Petition Presented To Parliament

Thank you to everyone who supported the petitions and shared the information regard Fracking here in Australia and overseas.  Today Federal Member for Lyne, Dr David Gillespie, MP presented The Big Ban CSG Petition in the Federation Chamber of the Australian Parliament at 10:07:50am on Thursday 27 March 2014.

thank you 2

This was an important victory but only the first step.  Having raised the concerns of Australian voters to the point where it was necessary to table the document in parliament and with a reading is wonderful. Now we need to continue with the pressure on both the government and those companies who are the financial backers of this enterprise. If you haven’t had a chance to sign you can still add you name to the list or simply visit the site by clicking on the link in the first paragraph.

Below is a recording of the live feed during which the presentation was tabled.  Once again, thank you.

  1. You keep me feeling more informed about Australian politics than I am my own country. It is all quite fascinating…maybe I should pick up a US newspaper?

    • I grew up in a political household so keeping up with what’s going on government wise is really just a habit. Plus it keeps me informed on the latest environmental or disability disaster the government is planning. Sound a bit boring I suppose but politics is fascinating to me.

Wouldn’t trust the news to give you a unslanted view of things – it better to buy 2 or 3 papers than span the left to the right so you get some balance. Also the online news services are pretty good you just have to be careful that if you join a group to read their about page as some aren’t really news but extremist points of view disguised as reporting.

  2. I reblogged this to Fracking is a vital topic where I live in the US and I so appreciate having allies in the fight all around the world. I’m also a relatively new blogger and just starting to get the hang of concepts like re-blogging. I’m a bit slow on the learning curve…

  3. Generally I don’t learn article on blogs, however I wish to say that this write-up very pressured me to
try and do so! Your writing taste has been amazed me. Thanks, quite great article.

    • Thanks for reading – I try to cover a lot of things here, humour etc [it’s to make up for when I drag out the soapbox and start ranting re politics and the environment]. Good to see you here. Jenni 😀
